Community standards

Different favourites. Shared respect.

A welcoming anime community makes room for disagreement without turning it into personal conflict. These expectations apply to spaces and activities directly operated by Indian Anime Club.

Core principle: challenge ideas, do not target people.

Everyday community rules

01 / RESPECT

Disagree without harassment

Critique a character, scene, adaptation, or argument without threats, slurs, targeted insults, bullying, or attacks on a person's identity.

02 / SPOILERS

Give people a fair warning

Label major reveals in posts and comments. Avoid putting decisive plot details in titles, preview text, or images that others may see unexpectedly.

03 / CREATION

Respect other people's work

Do not claim another person's art, writing, photography, cosplay, edits, or translation as your own. Credit does not replace permission where permission is required.

04 / PRIVACY

Keep personal details private

Do not reveal addresses, phone numbers, private messages, account details, or identifiable images of others without their consent.

05 / TRUST

No scams or deceptive promotion

Do not impersonate people or organisations, spread malicious links, misrepresent giveaways, spam the community, or hide a commercial motive in a misleading post.

06 / INCLUSION

No gatekeeping

Do not treat a person's first anime, language preference, budget, age, knowledge, or favourite genre as a reason to dismiss them as a fan.

Creative posts and copyright

Share your own work whenever possible. If you repost someone else's creation, check the creator's terms and obtain any permission that is needed. Do not assume that giving credit, posting only a short clip, or calling something fan-made automatically resolves copyright questions. For practical context, read our guide on anime articles and fan creativity and seek appropriate advice if a rights question is important to you.

Safety in group spaces

Do not pressure members to disclose personal information or move a conversation to a private channel. Ask before photographing or tagging someone at an activity. If a discussion becomes heated, pause, address the point without personal attacks, and use reporting tools rather than encouraging a pile-on.

How moderation may work

Indian Anime Club may remove content, ask for a change, limit access, or restrict participation when that is reasonably necessary to protect people or the integrity of a community space. The response will depend on the nature and context of the issue. We may update these guidelines as community needs change.

To report a concern, email prasad@indiananimeclub.com with the relevant page or public post and a concise description. Avoid forwarding sensitive personal information that is not needed to understand the issue.

Third-party platforms: Instagram and WhatsApp are operated by other companies. Their terms, privacy settings, community rules, and reporting tools also apply when you use them. Indian Anime Club cannot control every interaction that happens on a third-party service.

Keep the standard practical

Be curious, be specific, cite sources when making factual claims, mark spoilers, and remember there is a person on the other side of the screen. A strong fandom does not require everyone to agree. It requires disagreement to remain safe and useful.
